Light in the Darkness - Jessica Cramer

Meet Jessica Cramer! Jessica started attending Mayflower in 2007.

"I started Mayflower in 6th grade. I began there one year after

moving to Creston because I was being bullied in the public school. After my 5th grade year, I dealt with a lot of depression, and I had zero self-worth. I had convinced myself that I was stupid, worthless, and I didn’t belong in Creston. Those days were some of the darkest in my childhood.

That’s when my parents enrolled me into Mayflower. From the minute I got there, God started working through the 5-8th grade teacher, Miss Ibbotson. She was the most caring, loving, and encouraging woman of God I had ever met. She came down to my broken heart and truly poured the love of Jesus into it. Jesus began showing me my identity in Him, and although I would have some incredibly immature high school years to follow, God used Miss Ibbotson at Mayflower to make my heart joyful again. God used her to break down the walls in my heart, and show me how much He loved me. So much so, He gave His life for me. If it hadn’t been for her, and how God used her in my life to show me His love, I don’t think I would be where I am at with Jesus today.

My times at Mayflower are some of the best memories I have. God changed my life back then and I won’t ever forget that. I still have my Mayflower Bible and when I look back on all the memory verses I learned, I regretfully don’t remember them all. But the two that have stuck with me all these years are Proverbs 3:5-6, and Romans 12:1-2."

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understandings. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path.” ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

“Therefore brothers, in view of God‘s mercy, offer your bodies as living sacrifices. Holy and pleasing to God. This is your spiritual act of worship. Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, any longer, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may be able to test and approve what God‘s will is. His good, pleasing and perfect will.” ~ Romans 12:1-2

"I’m forever grateful for what God blessed me with in Mayflower, and I hope he impacts students for many years to come."
